How many people does an Airstream International sleep?
The number of people your International sleeps depends on the floor plan. The 23FB accommodates up to 4 people, while the 25FB, 27FB, 28RB, and 30RB each accommodate up to 6 people.
Each International includes:
- Your choice of a queen bed (60 inches by 75 inches) or twin beds (34 inches by 80 inches each)
- A dinette that converts into a sleeping space
The 25FB and 27FB provide an optional front bunk measuring 31 inches by 86 inches. This bunk holds up to 150 pounds and serves as storage when not being used for sleeping. All beds come with pillow-top memory foam mattresses, quilted bedspreads, decorative throw pillows, and sleeping pillows.
What kind of vehicle do I need to tow an Airstream International?
Your towing needs change based on which International floor plan you pick. Here are the weight specifications for each model:
International 23FB
- Base Weight: 5,100 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 500 pounds
- GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating): 6,000 pounds
International 25FB
- Base Weight: 5,700 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 860 pounds
- GVWR: 7,300 pounds
International 27FB
- Base Weight: 6,000 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 850 pounds
- GVWR: 7,600 pounds
International 28RB
- Base Weight: 5,900 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 860 pounds
- GVWR: 7,600 pounds
International 30RB
- Base Weight: 6,600 pounds (with LP and batteries)
- Hitch Weight: 900 pounds
- GVWR: 8,800 pounds
Your tow vehicle needs a towing capacity that goes beyond the GVWR of your selected model. The 23FB requires a vehicle rated for at least 6,500 pounds, while the 30RB needs at least 9,500 pounds of capacity.
Most mid-size and full-size trucks, SUVs, and some larger crossovers handle towing an International well. You'll need a weight distribution hitch system for safe towing. Check your vehicle's owner's manual for specific towing capacity and requirements. The team at Airstream of Albany in Latham can help you determine which trailer matches your vehicle.

Does owning an Airstream International make sense living in New York's Capital Region?
Yes! New York's Capital Region is an excellent location for Airstream ownership, and the International is perfectly suited for camping throughout upstate New York and beyond.
Three-Season Camping: The Capital Region offers wonderful camping from spring through fall. Summer brings warm weather perfect for lake camping and mountain adventures. Spring and fall provide beautiful temperatures with stunning scenery, especially during fall foliage season when the region becomes a destination for leaf-peepers. The camping season typically runs from late April through October, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your International each year.
Adirondack Mountains: The Adirondacks are one of the greatest camping destinations in the eastern United States, and they're right in your backyard. This "forever wild" forest preserve offers pristine natural beauty with high peaks, scenic trails, and hidden swimming holes. Lake George, often called the Queen of American Lakes, provides stunning camping opportunities. The International is perfect for exploring Adirondack campgrounds, from developed RV resorts to more rustic state park sites.
Catskill Mountains: To the south, the Catskill Mountains offer beautiful camping with mountain views, waterfalls, and excellent hiking. The International's size range makes it ideal for navigating Catskill campgrounds. Whether you're exploring historic towns or hiking to waterfalls, the Catskills provide endless weekend adventure opportunities.
Historic Saratoga Springs: Just north of Albany, Saratoga Springs offers upscale camping near this historic spa city. Enjoy horse racing at Saratoga Race Course, explore downtown shops and restaurants, and camp at excellent nearby RV parks. The International provides comfortable accommodations while you explore this charming area.
Hudson River Valley: The Hudson River Valley offers beautiful camping along one of America's most historic rivers. Explore riverside campgrounds, visit historic sites, and enjoy the region's growing food and wine scene. The International is perfect for weekend trips exploring the valley's small towns and scenic beauty.
State Parks and Recreation: New York State Parks offers excellent camping opportunities throughout the region. Thompson's Lake Campground at Thacher State Park, Schodack Island State Park along the Hudson River, and Cherry Plain State Park are all within easy reach. The International works perfectly for navigating state park campgrounds.
Equipment Features: The International comes with optional solar panels and lithium batteries, perfect for camping at more remote state parks. The 30,000 BTU furnace is essential for spring and fall camping when temperatures drop at night. The 15,000 BTU air conditioning keeps you comfortable during warm summer days. The enclosed, insulated, heated underbelly protects your systems during cooler weather, extending your camping season.
Local Convenience: With Airstream of Albany located in Latham, you have easy access to expert service and support. This makes routine maintenance, repairs, and winterization convenient throughout your ownership. Having a local dealership means you can get help quickly when you need it.

The good news is that the camping season runs from late April through October, giving you six months of camping each year.
Regional Travel: The Capital Region's location makes it perfect for regional adventures. Drive north to Montreal, east to Vermont's Green Mountains, west to the Finger Lakes, or south to New York City. New England's beaches are just a few hours away. The International makes exploring the entire Northeast easy and comfortable.
